The Board of the Baltic Institute of Corporate Governance (BICG) elected a new Chair of the Board, with Ansi Arumeel, a strategic advisor with extensive background in technology, e-commerce and logistics, having stepped into the role since June.
It is the first time the chairship of the BICG is rotating to Estonia from Latvia and Lithuania, highlighting the recent years of growth of the BICG presence and impact in the country.
“It is a privilege to take on this role at a time when the BICG is already well-acknowledged as the competence center for good corporate governance, instrumental in creating better boards, companies, economies and societies across the Baltics. By ensuring that the businesses and policy makers in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia continue to have access to the best practice advise and education, we will keep working towards advancing Baltic corporate governance into becoming a global role model,” says Mr Arumeel, who is serving on the BICG Board since 2023.
He is taking over from Kārlis Danēvičs, the Chief Risk Officer and member of the Management Board at SEB in Latvia, who has left the Board in April, having served as a Board member since 2017 and as the Chair of the Board since 2022.
“With Kārlis in the leadership team, the BICG was able to thoroughly strengthen its activities across all three Baltic countries, while being a strong voice in policy advocacy, a trusted advisor to companies that strive to improve their practices, and maintaining the highest standard of corporate governance education. We are fortunate to continue having him as a part of our member community”, says Rytis Ambrazevičius, President of the BICG.
Equally representing Latvian, Lithuanian and Estonian members, Board of the BICG is appointed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and establishes the strategies, goals and business procedures for the association.
Chair of the Board is elected annually by the Board members themselves, at the first Board meeting held after the AGM.
